A Golden Roadtrip

I love the little adventures and hikes we've been taking. We recently took a short road trip to Auburn ~ Gold Country and the foothill of the Sierra's. We stopped in Sutter Creek off Highway 49 and walked around the small town. We had the best bread pudding with a scoop of  ice cream at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium.

Then we stopped in Coloma where there is a State Historic Park - Marshall Gold Discovery. They have a whole installation you can walk through, and an area where you can pan for gold.
We stayed at the Power's Mansion Inn Victorian mansion.

The owner Alfred Lee also has a brewery pub called the Power Club where he offered us, and the other guests, a beer tasting accompanied by conversation and fascinating stories he shared about his life experiences. My impression is that he is very friendly and inspiring, as well as successful and close to his family. He's the kind of guy that inspires you to want to do more too. George said he should have a seminar on PBS. Alfred also cooked our breakfast the next morning. He truly wears many hats.
After our nice stay, we drove a short way to the Lake Clementine trail a fairly easy two mile hike. The signs warned of bears and snakes, but all we saw were two deer.

After our hike we stopped for lunch in Placerville and then I got to browse at "The Bookery" a big used bookstore. There just wasn't enough time, however; I did manage to buy three books.
