The house of Mr. Muir

Saturday was another adventure. We drove to Briones Regional Park for a hike. It was more open, surrounded by rolling hills than other parks we've visited so far.

We saw cows grazing

We had our own guide

After our hike, we picked up sandwiches and drove around looking for a nice spot to have lunch. We ended up in Martinez at John Muir's house, the perfect surprise, plus It's free to enter! We toured his Victorian house and the beautiful grounds where Muir was a fruit rancher.

Two things I loved most were his 'scribble den' which he called his study, and the orchard. Writing and produce! Now I have a real desire to plant a peach tree in our yard.
